Chief Executive Officer 

To serve as the primary leader for the wellbeing and sustainability of Stepping Stones Society’s  

organizational, fiscal, strategic, and cultural direction. 

 

 About Stepping Stones Crisis Society: 

 Stepping Stones Crisis Society is dedicated to empowering women and children in crisis through shelter, advocacy, and community partnerships. Our mission includes providing safe shelters, resource support, and family violence prevention education. In 2024, we look forward to launching a new 50,000 square foot facility that will double our service capacity. Designed with trauma-informed principles, the net-zero facility will include green spaces, a healing garden, a playground, and areas for spiritual and cultural practices, ensuring a comprehensive environment for healing and growth. 

 

Strategic Focus: 

  1. Organizational Leadership and Society Building 

  1. Stakeholder Relations and Domestic Violence Advocacy 

  1. Shelter Program Evolution 

 

Work Requirements: 

  • Design and implement programs and services that respond effectively to the needs of our clients. 

  • Foster staff growth and professional development. 

  • Serve as the primary liaison with funders and ensure robust governance processes with the Board of Directors. 

  • Oversee the organization’s financial health including budget oversight and financial planning. 

  • Execute the Society’s Sustainability Plan to ensure long-term success. 

  • Engage actively with community groups and initiatives such as the Alberta Council of Women’s Shelters to further our mission. 

 

Qualifications & Experience: 

  • 5-7 years of progressive executive leadership, preferably in non-profit human services. 

  • A track record of effective team leadership and results-driven management. 

  • Strong advocacy skills with a focus on public policy and community relations. 

  • Outstanding communication abilities, both written and verbal. 

  • An outgoing, flexible personality with a strong focus on relationship building and stakeholder engagement. 

  • Relevant post-secondary education in a related field is preferred. 

  • Financial literacy with proven experience in managing budgets and financial planning.
