Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) / Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Remote Northern Alberta
Rotation: 7 days on / 7 days off (12-hour days)
Start Date: Mid-November
Travel: Fly-in/Fly-out from Edmonton or Calgary

Position Overview
Primco Dene EMS is seeking an experienced Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to join their on-site medical team in a remote northern Alberta industrial setting. The successful candidate will provide emergency medical, occupational health, and clinical services within an advanced 24-hour medical facility. This role supports both occupational and non-occupational health needs while collaborating closely with emergency services, health & safety, and security teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive on-site healthcare and emergency response services.
- Triage, assess, treat, monitor, and support patients for occupational and non-occupational medical concerns.
- Administer vaccinations and manage seasonal immunization programs (including AHS reporting).
- Conduct periodic medical screenings such as audiometric and pulmonary function tests.
- Manage WCB claims, documentation, and assist with return-to-work coordination.
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records and clinic administration.
- Oversee procurement of medical, drug and alcohol testing, and clinic supplies.
- Support and participate in health promotion and wellness initiatives.
- Collaborate with client emergency services and health and safety teams to ensure medical readiness and effective response.
- Participate in health and safety meetings, emergency drills, and ongoing training.
OHN-specific duties include:
- Provide consultation and guidance on OH&S legislation and occupational health standards.
- Oversee medical surveillance programs and fitness-to-work assessments.
- Lead case management for work-related injuries or illnesses.
- Conduct ergonomic assessments and provide recommendations.
- Coordinate onboarding logistics such as flight and room bookings for staff.
Qualifications
- OHN Certification (required for OHN applicants)
- CARNA registration (active and in good standing)
- Minimum 1 year of emergency or occupational health experience, ideally in oil & gas or industrial settings
- DOT Urine and BAT certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – preferred
- Standard First Aid with CPR (HCP level) – required
- Class 5 driver’s licence
- H2S Awareness certification
- Strong knowledge of occupational health legislation, case management, and WCB processes
- Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills
