ABOUT THE POSITION
The Teaching and Learning Facilitator works as part of the Teaching, Learning and Applied Research team to support the achievement of the Portage College Academic Plan through the provision of services in the following areas: Instructional Design & Curriculum Development; Academic Quality Assurance, Applied Research and Faculty Development. The Teaching and Learning Facilitator may have specific duties as assigned by the Dean, Health, Human Services, Business, Environmental Studies, International, Teaching, Learning & Applied Research from time to time.
Responsibilities include:
· Administer Faculty Orientation/Instructional Skills Workshop to new faculty members.
· Facilitate the Foundations in Teaching 2 Moodle course to new faculty members.
· Develop and maintain a repository of resources to support faculty development
· Assist faculty with the development of learning objects to enhance instruction
· Develop instructional videos to assist faculty in use of technologies related to instruction
· Stay current with teaching and learning issues nationally and regionally.
· Provide writing center support based out of the Lac La Biche campus for students.
· Develop a learning hub at the Lac La Biche campus in collaboration with SLS and Library services
· Create a writing support program for the international students
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
· Master’s degree, preferably in education.
· Preference will be given to applicants with a minimum of five years’ experience in adult education.
· Project management experience would be an asset.
· Experience with Moodle or other Learning Management Systems.
· Strong knowledge of instructional technologies.
· Theoretical background in instructional design for post-secondary learning both online and classroom.
· Experience in instructing English at a post-secondary level.
· Must be proficient with computers, especially MS Office.
· Strong skills in organization, data entry and customer service.
· Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.
· Demonstrated ability to work independently and provide sound decision making.
· Successful applicant will be required to provide a current police information check.
