Seed Lab Technician

Bonnyville Forest Nursery is looking for a Seed Lab Technician to join their team. Established in 1991, the Bonnyville Forest Nursery is dedicated to producing reforestation container seedlings. They continue to grow in capacity to meet the demands of the Forestry and Oil & Gas industries of Western Canada. Bonnyville Forest Nursery takes pride in having many long-term team members and offering a pleasant and dynamic atmosphere in their greenhouse environment. 

 

The Lab Assistant works on a team and independently, under the Lab Manager’s direction. This is a diverse role that includes work in the lab and in the greenhouses to support execution of all day-to-day operations.

 

Primary duties include:

  • Receiving and storing seeds
  • Testing the capacity of germination and the viability of seeds
  • Cleaning and drying the seeds
  • Ensuring the stratification and any other tasks related to the seeds and plant material
  • Keeping accurate inventories in the lab and in the greenhouses
  • Ensuring diverse greenhouses operations and crop maintenance

 

This role is full-time from Monday to Friday and the candidate will have to be available some weekends during the year.

Benefits are available after 9 months.

No experience required as training will be provided to the right candidate.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word is considered an asset
