Includes Benefit Package – 3 weeks vacation – 12 recognized Statutory Holidays REPORTS TO: PROGRAM MANAGER Capella Centre is a non-profit agency dedicated to providing comprehensive support and resources to women and their families who have experienced domestic violence and/or abuse. Our programs and services are aimed at helping women move forward from their experiences of violence and abuse, so that they can carry on with their lives in a healthy and constructive manner. Our mission is to empower individuals and families to break the cycle of domestic violence through safety, knowledge, and respect. Our vision is Healthy Relationships, Healthy Communities. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Family Violence Liaison Worker to join our community team. As a Family Violence Liaison Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing individualized support for clients who may or may not be involved in the justice system. This may include providing transportation, advocacy, accompaniment to court and other appointments in the community. This position will:
• Provide support to women who have been victims of domestic violence.
• Liaise with the RCMP, Crown Prosecutor, probation, and other agencies on behalf of the client.
• Implement needs assessment, risk assessment and ongoing safety planning with clients. Provide orientation to court and provide assistance with navigating the justice system.
• Networks, consults, and liaises with community agencies and professionals to maintain current information on available resources, referral processes and to maintain positive community relations and build mutually beneficial partnerships.
Raise awareness about the complex issues of domestic violence and the services and programs delivered by Capella Centre. Qualifications:
• Relevant degree or diploma with related experience (with current registration is required).
• Exceptional understanding of violence against women’s issues both within dominant and non-dominant cultures.
• Strong listening skills, written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of the criminal justice system.
• Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate information to others (e.g. case notes, reports, and statistics)
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment demonstrating empathy, cultural humility, and respect for confidentiality.
• Proficiency in computer skills for documentation and communication purposes.
• Standard First-Aid and CPR
• Children’s Services Intervention Check & Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
• RCMP Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
• Clear Driver’s Abstract
