ABOUT THE POSITION
Portage College is actively seeking a highly-motivated and engaged individual with experience to instruct in our Native Arts and Culture program at the Lac La Biche campus. The successful instructor would be responsible for practicing excellence in teaching and learning. Some of the responsibilities include:
- Theory and practical instruction in the College’s Native Arts and Culture program.
- Preparation and delivery of subjects in both lectures and practical labs.
- Assist with curriculum development and/or revision.
- Develop exams, quizzes and other evaluation material for students.
- Manage and evaluate student progress in the program.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Native Arts Instructor Certificate or Artisan Entrepreneurship Diploma.
- The ideal applicant will have a minimum of five years’ experience instructing adult learners.
- Expert knowledge in traditional Indigenous art methods including: beading, sewing, quilling and tufting.
- Expert knowledge in Indigenous protocols and practices.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong computer skills, especially with MS Office.
- Successful applicant will be required to provide a current police information check.
