Shop Hand

Looking to get your foot in the door and gain hands-on heavy equipment experience? J. Post Haulage is seeking a reliable, versatile Shop Hand to join their team in Elk Point.
This full-time role focuses primarily on keeping their shop organized and running parts, with the added benefit of part-time loader operator duties and training. If you bring a strong work ethic, a mechanical mindset, and a clean driving record, they’ll train you on the equipment so you can step into the cab when needed.
What You’ll Do
- Run local errands to pick up and deliver equipment parts, tools, and materials between vendors, the shop, and job sites.
- Keep the shop organized, clean, and safe. Assist with tool maintenance, basic equipment repairs, and general shop upkeep.
- Receive training to operate heavy loaders on a part-time/as-needed basis—mixing materials to spec and loading trucks during peak yard activity or coverage needs.
- Perform daily pre-trip inspections, routine servicing, fueling, and light maintenance on shop equipment and fleet vehicles.
- Strictly follow all company and industry safety standards across the shop, yard, and road.
What They’re Looking For
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and a natural comfort working around tools and heavy machinery.
- No prior loader experience required—they are willing to train the right candidate from scratch.
- High reliability, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work well both independently and with the team.
- Willingness to undergo pre-access drug and alcohol testing.
