Dragonfly Counselling & Support Centre is looking for a Counselling Manager to join their dedicated team that is committed to ending the cycle of sexual abuse & assault by providing specialized intervention, counselling and preventative education to individuals, families and communities in North Region of Alberta.
The Counselling Manager is a full-time, Monday to Friday role based out of the DCSC Service Region, with travel required to Bonnyville main office on a consistent basis. As a senior leader within the Agency this position is responsible for all clinical service programs including: specialized sexual violence /trauma counselling and client service, including the daily supervision of all counselling team members (including student, contract and casual employees) and of the administration tasks associated with the department oversight.
This position requires you to work within DCSC’s service region which includes providing significant outreach in North Central East Alberta including Slave Lake, Wabasca-Desmarais, Smoky Lake, Athabasca, Lac La Biche, Bonnyville, Cold Lake, St. Paul, and local First Nations Communities and Métis Settlements.
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide the counselling team the daily support and supervision related to client needs, documentation, procedures, and ethical obligations, and case management
- Provide individual counselling services and support to clients aged four plus including, but not limited to, intake, assessment, case planning, and follow-up
- Assist with referrals to and accessing of appropriate community resources
- Support client towards self-efficacy and personal wellness by providing information on the impact of trauma, affirming their resilience and promoting thoughtful informed decision-making
- Oversight, supervision and support of the counselling team including facilitation of check-ins, department meetings, and team building events
- Create procedures for client care and provide to team for a unified standard of care
- Ensure that counselling team members uphold agency values around gender, culture, spirituality, sexuality, abilities, and health in all agency work
- Assess gaps in team capacity and need for certain positions or contracts and provide recruitment and interviewing of applicants
- Support other departments in counselling related requests for support and information
- Have a thorough understanding of case management and telehealth platform and provide training, program specifics, templates, and resources as needed
- Participate in leadership meetings and conjoined department meetings
- Support Executive Director and Director of Operations
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or other Related Fields with a minimum of 3 years directly related counselling experience (equivalencies may be considered)
- Preferred 5 years direct counselling experience with the ability to supervise and provide direct supervision to counsellors. Ability to provide clinical supervision is an asset
- Registered or eligible for registration with the appropriate professional association required
- Knowledge of community resources and familiarity with Indigenous culture and history within Canada
- Comprehensive knowledge of client-centered interventions, practice methods and professional skills
- Able to travel to DCSC service region
- Working knowledge of computer software (email, internet), Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook), and electronic records management system
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- An understanding of gender issues, social justice advocacy, diversity and anti-oppressive practice are an asset
- Criminal Records check, Child Intervention Record check, valid Alberta Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle
