Financial Assistant Regular Part-time

(NOC Title: Accounting Bookkeeper)

Under the general supervision of the Library Director, this part-time position will consist of up to 20 hours per week based at the Stuart MacPherson Public Library. The successful candidate must have their own vehicle or reliable transportation to work.

Duties include but are not limited to;

Keep financial records and establish, maintain and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping system.
Maintain general ledgers and financial statements.
Post journal entries, prepare other statistical, financial and accounting reports.
Calculate and prepare payroll, accounts payable and create electronic payments and cheques.
Reconcile various accounts weekly, monthly and annually.
Prepare tax returns, T4’s and ROEs.
Maintain LAPP, benefits and government deductions for personnel.
Assist in completion of all financial reporting for government agency and year end / audit purposes.

Successful candidates should have proven computer, organizational and interpersonal skills and be able to work efficiently with Microsoft Office, Internet, and basic database systems. Other requirements: Experience with SAGE accounting software and business accounting degree or relevant experience is required; LAPP experience is preferred.
