Position Overview
J. Post Haulage is seeking an organized, hands-on Fleet Manager to oversee their shop operations, parts inventory, and maintenance team in Elk Point.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong mechanical background who understands the ins and outs of a heavy truck/haulage shop but wants to step into a leadership and coordination role. You do not need to be a Journey Certified Heavy duty Mechanic to apply. They welcome individuals with parts management experience, strong shop exposure, or those just starting out in their heavy-duty mechanical apprenticeship who possess excellent leadership and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee and coordinate the daily tasks of the shop mechanics.

Schedule routine maintenance and emergency repairs to minimize fleet downtime.

Ensure all shop activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.

Source, order, and manage inventory for truck and trailer parts.

Maintain accurate records of parts used, inventory levels, and maintenance costs.

Build and maintain strong relationships with local parts suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and quick turnaround times.

Track and document all fleet maintenance records.

Coordinate with drivers regarding vehicle performance and reported maintenance issues.

Ensure the shop remains clean, organized, and running efficiently.
Qualifications & Skills

Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driving abstract.

Strong practical knowledge of heavy trucks, trailers, or heavy equipment. You must know your way around a shop and understand mechanical terminology.

Open to unregistered shop hands/parts techs or those in the very early stages of a 1st-year apprenticeship. A Journeyperson Certification is not required.

Previous experience managing parts, inventory, or ordering is a major asset.

Comfortable directing workflow, organizing schedules, and overseeing the work of mechanics.

Basic computer skills for tracking inventory and maintenance logs.
