Effectively serving St. Paul and surrounding areas since 1984, Capella Centre, operating the Columbus House of Hope, has been supporting and meeting the unique needs of the women, youth and children who have been impacted by family violence. We currently have job opportunities for Crisis Intervention Workers. We offer the opportunity to be part of a remarkable team of women working in an incredibly dynamic, and supportive environment.
Accountabilities:
• This position provides emotional support, crisis intervention, safety planning, advocacy, and referrals to women and their children.
• Screens potential residents of the shelter for suitability prior to admission.
• Conducts intake interviews and maintains client files.
• Assesses immediate needs and assists residents with defining and implementing goals.
• Monitors the safety, cleanliness, and security of the facility.
• Provides crisis intervention and safety planning with crisis line callers.
Qualifications:
• Diploma in a related human/social service field or a minimum of one-year recent related experience.
• Standard First-Aid and CPR
• Children’s Services Intervention Check & Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
Preferred skills:
• Non-violent Crisis Intervention Training.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working with diverse and multi-cultural communities.
• A strong knowledge of best practices in family violence.
• Understanding of trauma-informed care.
• Experience in working in a residential program.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member.
• A willingness to take additional training as required.
