Key Responsibilities
- Layout, assemble, install, maintain, and troubleshoot various industrial piping systems, structures, and related equipment.
- Work across diverse industrial plant sites assisting with or leading piping installations, modifications, and maintenance turnarounds.
- Measure, cut, thread, groove, and bend pipes utilizing standard hand/power tools and specialized equipment.
- Secure, move, and organize pipe sections, valves, fittings, and related rigging equipment safely.
- Journeypersons: Provide guidance, direct work, and share trade knowledge with apprentices on-site.
- Apprentices: Work directly with and take direction from experienced Journeypersons to develop trade skills.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and strictly adhere to plant-specific safety regulations, FLHAs, and hazard assessments.
Requirements
For All Applicants:
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean commercial/driver's abstract.
- Valid safety certifications required for plant access (e.g., CSO, First Aid, H2S Alive).
- Strong work ethic, physical fitness to handle trade demands, and the ability to adapt quickly to different plant environments.
For Apprentices:
- Registered Apprentice Steamfitter-Pipefitter with Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT).
- Basic knowledge of pipefitting tools, materials, and industrial plant processes.
- Eagerness to learn, take constructive direction, and safely progress through the trade.
For Journeypersons:
- Recognized Journeyperson Steamfitter-Pipefitter Certification (Alberta Qualification or Interprovincial Red Seal).
- Proven experience working independently and reading/interpreting blueprints, ISOs, and P&IDs.
- Demonstrated ability to lead small crews and mentor apprentices safely.
