The Town of Bonnyville is seeking an individual to work within a team-oriented organization to undertake the role of a Lifeguard. This is a casual position from May to August.
Key Responsibilities:

Fulfill lifeguard and instructional duties.

Ensure the facility is always kept clean and tidy, assisting with cleanup as required.

Manage lesson administration, including checking class lists for last-minute additions, completing items from previous report cards, being ready on deck with whistle and aid, filling out worksheets immediately after lessons, using progressive evaluation, teaching primarily in the water, being available for the entire lesson set, and having report cards ready for the last lesson.

Assist with the sale of season passes, bookings, and other front counter duties, including cash outs when administration is not on duty.

Establish and maintain positive community relations.

Be familiar with Safety Data Sheets, Town of Bonnyville Employment Policy, Bonnyville Swimming Pool Policy & Procedures, Occupational Health & Safety Acts & Regulations, and the Town’s Health and Safety policy.

Enforce all rules and regulations governing the use of the facility, with the authority to discipline or remove patrons whose behavior is offensive or dangerous.

Supervise Junior Lifeguards and Casual Admin staff in the absence of the Pool Supervisor or Head Guard.

Conduct necessary water tests, pump checks, and maintenance (e.g., backwashing, recirculation, adding chemicals) to maintain balanced water in all pools. Keep the chemical storage room organized and ensure all Safety Data Sheets are up to date and available to staff. Ensure personal protective equipment is available as per SDS sheets.

Attend training meetings and courses as required.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Pool Supervisor and/or Head Lifeguard.

Ability to work evenings and weekends as set out in the Collective Agreement.

Report to the Pool Supervisor or, if unavailable, the Head Lifeguard.
Qualifications:

National Lifeguard
-
Intermediate First Aid with CPR “C”
-
Swim and Lifesaving Instructor
-
Minimum of six (6) months experience and at least 18 years of age

Maintain good physical condition to fully meet the obligations of the position as established by the Lifesaving Society – National Lifeguard Standards as a condition of employment

The Town of Bonnyville employment policy requires successful applicants to complete a pre-employment alcohol and Drug Testing.
