ABOUT THE POSITION
Portage College is actively seeking a highly motivated and tech-savvy journeyman welder to instruct in our Apprenticeship Welder program at the Lac La Biche campus.
Some of the responsibilities include:
·Deliver engaging theory and hands-on lab instruction to students in the Welding program.
· Develop learning materials and assessments tailored for adult learners which will include the use of various Microsoft Office programs, following college and program guidelines.
· Support student success by providing timely feedback and evaluations.
· Promote and enforce safety protocols in both classroom and lab settings, in line with Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety Act.
· Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment where everyone feels valued.
· Continuously improve instructional practices to enhance student learning.
· Stay connected with industry professionals and regulatory bodies to ensure our program meets industry standards and best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
· Journeyperson Welder Certification (Alberta) with several years of related post-journeyman industry experience. Red Seal certification is considered an asset.
· Knowledge of best practices across all aspects of the welding profession.
· Adult teaching/tutoring experience would be considered beneficial.
· Knowledge or experience with Moodle or other Learning Management Software would be an asset.
· Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
· Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, such as PowerPoint.
· Successful applicant will be required to provide a current police information check.
