Please Note: This position is supported by the Canada Summer Jobs grant program. To meet the funding eligibility requirements, applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 30 at the start of employment. We warmly welcome applications from all qualified youth.
The Town of Bonnyville is looking for individuals 18+ years to perform various manual labour duties in support of the Town programs, services, and events. This seasonal position is from beginning of May until the end of August. Start and end dates are based on environmental factors and budgetary constraints. Please indicate if you are a student and are planning to return to school in the fall as this may influence grant funding for the position.
Hours:
Monday – Friday 7:30AM to 4:00PM
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performmanualdutiessuchasmoving,placing,andmaintainingbarricades,picnictables, and garbage collection (including emptying).
- Conductgreenspacemaintenance,includingtreepruning,treeplanting,andTown beautification.
- Operatepickuptrucks,zero-turnmowers,pushmowers,weedtrimmers,andothergreen space equipment as required.
- Exercisegoodjudgmentandcautionwhenoperatingequipmentnearotherworkers, pedestrians, and vehicles to ensure safety.
- Towtrailers,andoperatelinepainters,operaterollerpackersandassistingwithpothole and crack filling.
- Perform flagging duties as necessary (training provided).
- SupportandassistinTownprogramsandevents,includingsetupanddismantlingof barricades and other equipment.
- Complete designated training and adhere to Occupational Health and Safety Legislation.
- WorkovertimeonsomeweekendsandforTowneventsasrequired. *
- Assistwithplaygroundmaintenance,includingfixingpicnictablesandemptyinggarbage cans.
- Remove trees and brush from trails and green spaces.
- Level and chalk ball diamonds and sports fields.
- Conduct regular vehicle inspections.
- Performminormaintenanceonequipment,includingfueling,oiling,greasing,andwashing vehicles.
- Assistinpreparationforspecialevents,includingfabricating,constructing,andpainting signs and barricades.
- Liftweightsuptoapproximately20kg.,walkingonunevensurfaces,stooping,kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs and ladders.
- Activelyparticipateinmorningtailgates,hazardassessmentsandfollowsafetyprocedures to ensure the safety of oneself and others.
- Actively participate in near-miss and hazard identification reporting.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of OHS Legislation and relevant safety policies.
- Comply with reporting requirements.
- Submitallpaperworkinatimely,organized,andlegible manner.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Must be a team player.
Qualifications:

ValidClass5Driver’sLicensewithacceptable abstract.

High school Diploma or Equivalent.

Experience in general labor duties (considered an asset).

Physicallycapableofperformingmanuallabor,includingstandingandliftingupto50lbs. (Any physical limitations must be disclosed prior to employment).

Experience operating pickup trucks and towing trailers (considered an asset).

Strongcommunicationskills,includingreadingandwriting,withtheabilitytofollowverbal and written instructions.
TheTownofBonnyvilleemploymentpolicyrequiressuccessfulapplicantstocompletea pre-employment alcohol and Drug Testing.
